Welcome to Dry Land Decor’s wait for it...blog!
I wanted to take a minute and make some introductions while giving you a glimpse of what we have planned for the blog! I’m Mackenzie Dorsett, one-half of Dry Land Decor. My business partner is Brenda, who just so happens to be my beautiful mom (stay tuned, she will be introducing herself in a few weeks)!
I’m the one who handles all of our day-to-day, marketing and social efforts, where Brenda does a lot of the decorating and purchasing. For the most part, the blog posts will be coming from me, but Brenda will be dropping in from time-to-time.
A little about the store:
We opened Dry Land Décor in a tiny (like population of 300 people, tiny) town of New Home, Texas. New Home is a farming community where my husband Jordan, and Brenda both graduated high school (obviously not at the same time, haha). Even though Brenda moved away after graduating, she still considers this place home, and in 2014 when picking a location for the store we LOVED the idea of bringing some fresh life to our hometown!
Currently the only two businesses in town are the cotton gin and us! There is not gas station, not a post office(we currently occupy its old space), not a place to buy a gallon of milk, nada! We are so thankful for our community and the surrounding communities for loving what we are about and making our store grow each and every year!
Launching a website and starting a blog have been a dream of mine since opening the store, but it took a little encouragement from a sweet friend to finally take the leap, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us!
A little about myself:
My husband Jordan and I have such a sweet and feisty little girl, Maybree. Most days she is at the store with me and if she, is you will be greeted with a great big “Hey!” in the cutest little West Texas accent, just like her daddy’s! I’m convinced that most of the customers come in, just to see Maybree! She has become quite the decorator and I’m pretty sure in the next year or so, she will be running the joint! Ha!
A little about the blog:
This blog is a place where we plan to share home décor, decorating tips and tricks, farm life, mom life, and whatever else we have going on at that time! We are by NO means experts in any of these fields, so if expert advice is what you’re seeking this could be a quick visit for you! ;) But in all seriousness, if there is anything you would like to read about or have questions about please message me!
